When choosing the insects for Flatterby, Ingo Maurer picked several black and white butterflies like the Black Swallowtail and the Rice Paper Butterfly but also the Blue Morpho, and a small Brown Moth. The ring is a 3D printed part with the imprinted edition number.

Ingo Maurer (1932–2019) was a pioneering German lighting designer, renowned for over 700 fixtures, including iconic pieces like the Bulb lamp and Hearts Attack.
