Nimrod

Designed By

Product Code: 1.210

The development of Nimrod low chair was the fruit of many years of research that eventually led to the definitive product, which has been on the market since 2009. Magis’ initial objective was to produce this piece using blow-moulding technology, but after countless attempts to achieve the level of technical quality the company has always demanded, this quest was abandoned in favour of rotational moulding, which provided a better aesthetic definition of the chair.

Material: shell in rotational-moulded polyethylene. Seat and back cushions covered in fabric.

  • Marc Newson

Marc Newson, CBE, has been described as one of the most influential designers of his generation. He has worked across a wide range of disciplines, and his clients include companies such as Louis Vuitton, Montblanc, Hermès, Nike, Dom Pérignon, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Ferrari. He also served as Creative Director of Qantas Airways (2005-2015) and Designer for Special Projects at Apple since his first involvement in the design of the ‘Apple Watch’. In 2019, Marc and Sir Jonathan Ive founded the creative collective LoveFrom.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Newson graduated from The University of Sydney in 1986. With the aid of an Australian Crafts Council grant, he staged his first solo exhibition at the age of 23. By 25, Newson had created the now iconic ‘Lockheed Lounge.’ This piece has since set four world record prices at auction for work created by a living designer.

As a long-term supporter of the charity (RED), Newson together with Ive curated a design auction in 2013 which raised US$46 million for the organisation.

Newson is the only industrial designer represented by Gagosian, and is also represented by Galerie kreo. Leading museums around the world have hosted solo retrospective exhibitions of his work. His designs can be found globally in the permanent collections of over 40 institutions.

    Profile
A story of ideas, creativity and experimentation. Since 1976. This is the know-how that Magis brings to the world of design.

Established in Northern Italy as a family business, the ingenuity of the visionary Eugenio Perazza soon led it to become a great design laboratory for home, outdoor, office and contract furniture, and a global player in the design field.

    EXPERIMENTING… MORE

Magis is a Latin word meaning “more“. And this is precisely the origin of the propulsive drive for experimentation. To be and do more.

Magis has always believed in young and emerging talents, and over the years, the company has grown and experimented alongside many of them, now famous on the international scene. Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, Philippe Starck, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec and Jerszy Seymour are just some of the designers who are part of the Magis family.

    INNOVATING

A concrete view of design, unafraid to dare. Because the drive towards ever new ideas, codes and production systems leads this company towards an uncompromising design that will last over time and create not only industrial projects with an artisanal soul, but also positive relationships with employees, customers and partners.

The focus is on design, the choice of materials, technologies and production processes, which are different for each project and product. With one eye toward the past, which Magis loves to draw upon, and one on a new, sustainable and timeless future.

An eclectic, versatile design that graces homes, public spaces and the permanent exhibitions of more than 35 museums around the world, and has won close to a hundred extremely prestigious accolades, including five Compasso d’Oro awards, the oldest and most authoritative worldwide design award.
